So you want to bring some greenery into your home but don't know where to start? Don't worry—we've all been there. The good news is that there are plenty of beautiful, low-maintenance houseplants perfect for beginners.
The Golden Rules
Before we dive into specific plants, here are the basics:
1. Start Small
Don't overwhelm yourself with a jungle straight away. Begin with one or two plants and build your collection as your confidence grows.
2. Light is Everything
Most plant problems stem from incorrect lighting. Observe your space: which windows get direct sun? Which are shady? Choose plants that match your conditions.
3. Less Water is More
The number one killer of houseplants is overwatering. Most plants prefer to dry out between waterings.
4. Patience is Key
Plants grow slowly. Don't expect overnight changes, and don't panic if a leaf yellows occasionally—it's normal.
